With one of our partner groups, Green and Black Cross (GBC), currently pausing its activities to reorganise and rebuild its capacity, the Network for Police Monitoring (Netpol) has stepped in to help coordinate a call for trained legal observers to volunteer during protests against the DSEI arms fair taking place in London next month.

From the 2-8th September, international arms dealers will be setting up shop at London’s Excel centre for one of the world’s largest arms fairs, Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI). In response, a broad coalition of political and faith groups – coordinated by Campaign Against the Arms Trade – will be staging a week of action aimed at shutting the fair down once and for all.

Legal observers trained by either GBC or LDMG – this is important, we are only looking for volunteers who have been properly trained – are needed for four-hour legal observer shifts between 9am and 6.30pm, from Monday 2nd – Sunday 8th September.

If you have not been out legal observing for a while, this is an opportunity to brush up your skills with experienced legal observers. There are plans, too, for a refresher course for those who have previously received training.

If you are interested please email your name, contact details and availability for w/c 2nd September to dsei-legal@protonmail.com
